Four Stories
altered book, metal rack
64 x 12 x 7 in.
1991
Four novels, their pages folded in on themselves, are opened and displayed on a steel stand with tiered plastic racks. Four Stories refers obviously to the fiction itself as well as to the architectural structure as narrative. In an act of recycling that is at the essence of such bookworks, I eventually dismantled this piece and reused its four altered volumes to construct City.
