Collage
Gouging, sanding, slicing and tearing the paper of found maps, art reproductions and other printed imagery transforms the original page into a veritable mosaic of abstract and interrupted readings. Traditionally, for example, instead of drawing with a pencil on paper, I use high speed power tools on the surfaces of pages; a reversal or 'blind' drawing technique where I can't see the front of the image, only when finished and turning the paper over can I see the results.
