The different headdresses reference the metaphor of ‘thinking caps’ are comprised of four books and one magazine title that are interchangeable with the mask portion of the sculpture. The mask is from the original book, The America Heritage College Dictionary, 3rd Edition, Houghton Mifflin Company, 1993. The titles of the shredded books/magazine are; The Hamond World Atlas, Superior Edition, 1953; A World History of Art, 7th Edition, by Hugh Honour & John Fleming, 2005; Four Days in November: The Original Coverage of the John F. Kennedy Assassination, 2003, Robert Semple (editor); Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 11th Edition, 2008; Ebony Magazine, Nov. 1967-Feb. 1968.
