Disaster Series
This is a self-portrait taken in my studio in Brooklyn. I held an altered phone book from my Disasters: Twister series over my face like a contorted mask, but in the tradition of using such cover to reveal rather than hide. It is my personal take on a Facebook page. The use of a residual technology—the soon-to-be obsolete printed-and-bound phonebook—updated as a global-networking phenomenon both acknowledges and satirizes the intended community of computer users.
